Our huge fall shipment of Haba came in and one of the things that caught my eye was this game called “Animal upon Animal” (ok, so it gets a little lost in translation) that’s a wonderful stacking/balancing game. The pieces are all colorful wood animal shapes with dice included. It can be played by 2-4 players and is for ages 4-99. It also has an adaptation for a single player, when there’s just no one else around. High quality Haba game, made in Germany.
Isn’t this a cute outfit? We carry this 2 piece set by Under the Nile in infant sizes 12 to 24mo. It’s all organic cotton and the price is right. We have the cute little panda doll too! This is just one of the items we carry from this wonderful organic and fair trade company.
We have one left of what may be the last brand new, still unassembled and in original box (with instructions) Selecta Casa Bella dollhouse in existence. This much sought after wooden dollhouse was discontinued by Selecta when they ceased exporting their German made toys to the U.S. The dollhouse measures approx. 30″ by 16 by 25″ and sold for as much as $175. or more and we have seen used ones selling for $100. When my babies were little they pretty much always had a hat on their little heads, even indoors and especially when they were newborns. I wanted to make sure they never felt chilled. After all, tiny babies don’t move around too much so they don’t generate a whole lot of body heat on their own. Now that the weather is turning, I think it’s especially important that babies don’t catch a chill. Any kind of knit cap will do, but a cotton one works nicely because it does the trick without getting too warm. In the winter I end up wearing a hat around the house myself because we tend to keep the thermostat low so the hat works great to keep the rest of me warm. It’s a simple concept of holding in body heat since heat rises and escapes through the top of the head. In our store we have the basic little newborn skullcap in not so basic colors of fuschia, moss, purple, gold, cantaloupe, turquoise, black to name a few. We also have a cute little beret for bigger kids in the same fun colors. These caps can also be pulled down over the ears to keep the wind out. Oh and I should mention that none of our three ever had any problem with ear infections. Coincidence? Maybe, or maybe it really did help.
We carry these interesting teething toys that are made out of cornstarch resin. They’re biodegradable which is so cool-too many of our baby’s toys etc. end up in the landfill all too quickly. What are we thinking? This is not about our future, it’s about theirs and their childrens children and so on (we’re supposed to think 7 generations ahead). So I think every little thing we buy can take that into account. We also carry natural rubber wood rattles and organic cotton towel dolls that can be chewed on as well to relieve some of the teething irritation that babies experience. In general we like to stay away from plastic toys as much as we can.
We carry these cute little baby mukluks made in Sweden for us by NowaLi. Mukluks are thick cotton terry booties with leather soles stitched on (move over Robeez!) They are designed to stay on too. These shoes/booties are perfect for crawling or walking babies. The flexible fabric lets a baby’s growing foot move and wiggle naturally. NowaLi also makes some beautiful striped cotton tights for us that are super popular. Our mukluks are in stock right now in colorful boy and girl prints in sizes 0-24months.
Today a big shipment of Twirly Girl skirts came in and are they FUN!! They go great with our Wild Child garment dyed leggings and tees, or cute patterned tights. Girls LOVE these skirts!
This great product has been a staple at Wild Child for years now. “Teddy Toes” by GoBaby is the blanket with feet that can be used in a carseat or stroller. It’s like a bunting, very easy to get on and off, and easy to open up so baby doesn’t get overheated on those long car rides. GoBaby uses high quality polarfleece made by Malden Mills and the sizes are either 0-6 months for the new baby or 6-18 months for the older baby. We just got in our fall shipment including the matching and adorable knothats in the same fleece colors. Teddy Toes are a popular and much appreciated shower gift.
