Over the years we’ve had lots of people look at any given item of clothing in our shop, balk at the price and exclaim, I can make that myself! Yes, true and short of something like brain surgery, I can probably do a lot of things myself too. Indeed I have spent countless hours of my time cutting pieces of lumber, re-cutting (because I measured wrong) drilling holes, re-drilling holes (measured wrong!) putting it all together for a wobbly little crooked shelf that I made myself. When you consider the actual amount of time & effort spent looking for and getting the materials together, then preparing the materials (cutting, measuring) then putting them together-is it really worth it? Everybody out there is trying to make a living with their own little talents, please support them! I guess I am mainly talking about the individuals out there and the small USA made companies, not the big corporations outsourcing their products to the lowest bidder. In our business my partner does the garment dying of all our beautiful, colorful Wild Child clothes that we sell. He has in certain circumstances sold small amounts of dye and provided instructions for a customer to dye a piece of clothing themselves and every time they come back and say it’s waaaayyy too much work. We on the other hand have all the tools and are set up to do this, and our results are fantastic. About 95% of our Wild Child clothes are made by small companies right here in the US and the other 5% are made by small workers collectives. I feel so good supporting these products, I hope you do too.

It’s part of the Twirly Girl line that we carry which is mostly skirts(reversible) and I decided to try a few of their dresses. This one is called “spinderella” and we only have one in a size 5. We do have lots of the skirts and a couple of jumper dresses that can be layered over our colorful tees. The whole line is about styles that twirl and the dresses and skirts make little girls feel just like this little girl looks-happy. Last week a family bought one of the skirts for their little girl (they were visiting from out of state) and the next day, the dad made the effort to call our store to tell us that the little girl twirled in her new skirt ALL DAY LONG! We love happy customers and their happy children. Twirly Girl products are all USA made.

whew! We have been working feverishly to get our new (& improved!) website up and running. People have always said your website should look like your store, and with outdated software that was easier said than done. We have so many amazing things in our store and it was hard to make updates to the old site-so it didn’t really look like our store, but our new site is fantastic! So I am happy and excited. It has so many nice features. We are able to put so much more of our store on the site and will continue to add new and more products as time goes on. Of course there are always little(teeny tiny, hopefully) bugs to work out at first so sorry about that- and hope you bear with. When I have been surfing the web lately to see what else is out there- I get a little overwhelmed. I mean every freaking pattern of Zutano overalls available on one site!? We carry Zutano too (will appear on our site later), but frankly we will only have a few of the best patterns, we will do the weeding out for you. Same with our toys and accessories. We won’t have everything but we will have a little of the best of everything. And we are always picking up new products so those will be on the site too. And then there is our hand dyed in 15 gorgeous mix and match colors in pre-shrunk cotton(some organic) Wild Child clothes. Well I don’t have to tell our long time customers but, NOBODY else has these. Then throw in the unique hand painting(thanks to our wonderful artist Christine) on these colors-wow. And lots of you know about the special order possibilities of our clothes. Just recently we had a customer order a #1 painting for a first birthday girl. Well we generally offer these on our candy pink tee, but the customer ordered it on a hot pink twirl jumper with a violet painting (that she can pair with our violet legging and tee). It was soooo cute, I took a picture of it to post here(but of course I am having trouble doing it at the moment-so, coming soon!). The least but not last really cool thing about our Wild Child dyed line is that it’s 90% made in USA, now THAT’S unique. Anyway, please check out our site soon and tell us what you think.
